Our most frugal fleet member has arrived – meet the Toyota Yaris Cross GX Hybrid

Leveraging Toyota’s renowned hybrid system, this light SUV petrol-electric hybrid offers the best of both worlds and will ensure you’re safe and efficient, but also stylish while out on the road. This snappy light SUV delights drivers by minimising the use of the petrol engine whilst zipping around town. If you’re looking for a money saver, the Yaris Cross GX 2WD is thrifty on fuel with a consumption of just 3.8 litres/100 km.

Toyota has stated this compact go-getter has the ability to travel a whopping 947 km on one tank, without compromising on serious power.

Whilst the car is based on the Yaris hatch, it's been given the SUV treatment with an additional 30mm ground clearance as well as being 90mm taller, 20mm wider and 240mm longer. Although there is more room within the cabin, this car is suited for quick urban trips. The boot space on the other hand is class-leading. Big enough to comfortably fit nine regular-sized shopping bags or two suitcases within. The back seats fold to a flexible 40/20/40 and the boot has an adjustable tiered floor with a 60/40 split. Whilst it is snug, the back seat will accommodate adult passengers. The interior is minimalistic but passengers will be delighted with a centre folding cup holder/armrest for their comfort.

Safety tech is where this remarkable urban carrier really shines.

Underneath the stylish outside, there’s Toyota’s advanced Safety Sense System, designed to support preventative driving and offer peace of mind on the road. As a result, the seamless driving experience is carefully overseen by a bunch of safety features, such as Lane Trace Assist, Road Sign Assist (speed signs only), and Pre-Collision Safety system that detects pedestrians and cyclists and helps prevent collisions. Not to mention, the Toyota Yaris Cross GX 2WD also scored a full five-star ANCAP safety rating in 2021.
