‘That’s Christmas sorted’ – Bernard takes home the £500 Monthly Reward in September

A friendly face at the London Hub, Bernard was all smiles as he collected his £500 Splend subscription credit, his well-earned reward as September’s Monthly Rewards Program winner.
Bernard secured this win by maintaining a perfect driving safety score for 10 consecutive weeks. His dedication to safe driving, staying on top of his weekly payments, and staying connected through the Splend app made him a standout choice. When asked when he first joined Splend, Bernard surprised us with his photographic memory.
I joined Splend just over two and a half years ago, on the 5th of April 2019. I was with another PCO car subscription provider before, but I’ve made the change to Splend and haven’t looked back. With Splend, you just phone up, get straight through to someone, ask a question, and you get an answer right away.
Currently Bernard is on our Flexi Try plan but is looking to make the switch to our all-inclusive Flexi Own plan in a brand-new electric car.
I should have gone straight for Flexi own when I first started. I’m looking at the Hyundai Kona Electric – the way things are going with the Congestion Charge and with Uber moving to zero emissions, electric cars are the way forward. Plus with the petrol crisis, I wish I had an electric car now.
When it comes to his perfect driving score, Bernard was quick to point out the additional training he’d received.
In the early days of my driving career, I was told to drive with my eyes on the car two or three cars in front. If you see them braking you start to slow down because you know you’re going to stop.
He took this strategy to the next level and he was kind enough to share his own best practices and a word of advice:
I try to not stop at all, I coast up to lights or traffic and by the time I get there, hopefully the lights have gone green. Just watch the road and there is no need to speed.
When we asked how he would spend the £500 he saves in weekly fees, there was no doubt in Bernard's mind he would spend it on his loved ones.
That’s Christmas sorted. I have 12 grandkids so the money I save will come in handy in December.
Finally, when it comes to his earnings, Bernard works for a number of different on-demand platforms to maximise his income. Currently, Bernard drives with Uber and Bolt for most of the time, and then drives at least three shifts a week with Green Tomato Cars which has impressed him for how much he can earn.
